How do I extract a passage from a Youtube video?

YouTube videos are a very useful resource for musicians. Whether you're a teacher, a member of an orchestra or opera, or a private musician, you've all used YouTube in your learning or your career.

Whether it's videos of musicians playing, advice on equipment or scores to play, it's a very complete tool.

However, it's not always necessary to watch the whole video. Sometimes only one or two extracts are worth using.

So that you can extract the passage you want, with no time limit and free of charge, download Hashcut.

This YouTube extension lets you extract any part of your YouTube videos in less than 5 minutes!

What to do?

Once you've downloaded the extension and linked it to your YouTube account, select the URL of the video you want to cut.

I chose Newzik's advice video on the different different models of page-turning pedals. It's quite handy to send undecided musicians only the models that might interest them.

In your browser's search bar, enter the following link: https://www.hashcut.com/

You will find yourself on this page:

Enter the URL of your video in the space provided.

Click on the "Start recording" button.

Scroll to the end of the clip of interest and press the "End recording" button.

Click on "Save cut" and save it in any form you like. You can also send it to anyone you like.

Pro tip: it's very useful to record the URL of your new video, so you can send it to your musicians, students or orchestra members on the channel of your choice!
